Site Readiness Standards

Last Updated: 3/10/2026

Purpose: These standards ensure the safety of our personnel, the protection of your property, and the efficiency of your service. Failure to meet these criteria at the time of service will result in a Service Refusal and a Return Trip Fee (or “Dry Run”). Earthwise drivers are instructed to take time-stamped photos of all services performed and to document the reason for Service Refusal.

1. GENERAL ACCESS REQUIREMENTS (ALL SERVICES)

  • Clear Path: A minimum of 50 feet of straight-line approach is required for all heavy equipment.
  • Surface Stability: The approach and placement area must be level and composed of a hard, stable surface (concrete, asphalt, or compacted gravel) capable of supporting up to 80,000 lbs. Earthwise is not liable for damage to surfaces that do not meet these specifications.
  • Gate/Entry Access: Any gates must be unlocked or a code provided prior to the driver’s arrival. Gates must have a minimum opening width of 12 feet.
  • Snow & Ice: All access paths and areas around the equipment must be plowed and sanded. Drivers will not attempt service on uncleared inclines or icy patches.

2. SERVICE-SPECIFIC DIMENSIONS

To safely maneuver and dump equipment, the following clearances are mandatory:

Service Type Overhead Clearance Lateral (Side) Clearance Key Requirement
Roll-Off Containers 30 Feet 12 Feet Requires space to tilt the rail and “slide” the bin off.
Front/Rear Loaders 25 Feet 12 Feet No low-hanging wires or tree limbs above the bin.
Mobile Storage 30 Feet 12 Feet Must be placed on a level surface to prevent door jamming.
Portable Restrooms N/A 12 Feet Must be within 25 feet of truck access for pumping.

3. PLACEMENT & OBSTRUCTIONS

  • The “Three-Foot” Rule: For Toters and Dumpsters, maintain at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides of the unit. This allows our automated arms or drivers to safely grab the container.
  • Prohibited Obstructions: Do not park vehicles, store materials, or place “extra” bags in front of or against the equipment.
  • Overhead Hazards: The Customer is responsible for identifying and marking any underground utilities (septic, sprinklers) or low-hanging overhead lines that are not clearly visible.

4. MOBILE STORAGE & SITE FENCING

  • Leveling: Mobile storage units must be placed on a flat, level surface. Earthwise will not use shims or blocks to level units on uneven terrain.
  • Fencing Perimeter: For temporary site fencing, the perimeter must be clear of debris, brush, and equipment for a width of 4 feet to allow for safe installation and anchoring.

5. PORTABLE RESTROOMS (SANI-READY)

  • Pumping Access: Restrooms must be placed in a location where the service truck can get within 25 feet of the unit. We cannot drag hoses over fences or through active construction excavations.
  • Level Ground: Units must be placed on level ground to prevent tipping and ensuring proper door latching.
